Explanation
Welcome to the second VGM World Cup hosted on the Zend. Like the first time, this World Cup will take 128 songs from your favorite video games and pit them against each other until we find the best one. This time around, no songs from the first WC may be nominated. Also, I hold strict authority over what noms are accepted, so make sure your nom isn't a crappy one. If it isn't a good one, I'll remove it and you can replace it with a better nomination. So choose wisely...

For newcomers, this is how it works. The songs are placed into groups of four. Normally, there are 32 entries like in the real World Cup which means there are 8 groups. But since we have 128 entries, there are 32 groups, named by color. Each song will square off against every other song in its group. For each win, that song gains 3 points. For a tie, both gain 1 point. For a loss, no points are gained. After each song has faced every other song, the top two in each group will move on. The first place song in a group will square off against the second place song from a different group. This is single elimination, once a song loses, it's out for good. And from here, it operates like a standard tournament. So we'll be going from 128 in the first rounds to 64, to 32, to 16 and then we'll enter Quarterfinals and Semifinals. At the Semifinals, there is no elimination. Simply put, the winners of each Semifinal match will play for first place in the Finals and the losers of each Semifinal match will play for third place. During the single elimination rounds, if there is a tie, the total amount of votes a song has received throughout the World Cup will be the deciding factor. Whichever song has more total votes moves on. So voting is INCREDIBLY important in this.

We're on the honor system here, guys. Basically, I'm trusting that you have listened to all of these songs and are voting unbiasedly. There's no point to this competition if you just vote based on which game you like better without giving the other song a fair chance. Voting will occur every two days or so to give people adequate chance to listen to each track that's up. Be sure to vote in every round and try to vote in every match, even if it's hard. There's a good chance I might implement a system that only allows you to skip voting in three matches per round or something. I have a feeling that people would otherwise be to apt to simply say "this crap's too hard!" and not vote in a match. So we'll see. Thanks for participating. May the best song win.
